Reduction in Application Fees and Issuance Fees - Waiver of Issuance fees for students and certain other categories

Effective October 11, 2003 the visa application fees for all consulates in India will be Rs. 4,600 for all Non-Immigrant Visas. The present fee is as follows:

Non-Immigrant Visa Application Fee (non-refundable) * Rs. 4,600
Non-Immigrant Visa Issuance Fee (paid only upon issuance) ** Rs. 2,300
Courier Fees Rs. 400

Note: * Applicants for the following non-immigrant visa categories are exempt from paying the Non-Immigrant Visa Application Fee: A, C-2, G and NATO
** As of October 11, 2003, applicants for the following non-immigrant visa categories will be exempt from paying the Non-Immigrant Visa Issuance Fee: A, C-2, D, F, G, J, K, M, N, NATO, S, T and V.

Hike in visa application fees

Dear readers, kindly note that effective November 01, 2002 the visa application fee for the non-immigrant category is US$ 100 (INR 4,900 - approx.) . Previously the visa application fee for the non-immigrant category was US$ 65 (INR 3,185).

It can be recalled that there was a fee hike effective June 01, 2002 when the visa application fee was increased from US$ 45 (INR 2,205) to US$ 65 (INR 3,185).

The visa fee for the immigrant visa category totals to US $ 335 (INR 16,415). The fee has to be in the form of a demand draft favoring "American Consulate General", payable at Chennai. Previously the visa application fee for the immigrant visa totalled to US$ 325.

The above change in the visa fee is aplicable world wide.
