F-1 / M-1 Visas for Study in the US

F-1 visa, also known as student visa for vocational students and M-1 visa for non-vocational students, and is available to persons who intend to travel to the United States temporarily for pursuing his/her studies.

To obtain an F-1 or M-1 visa, it is essential that the applicant:

1. Have good scores in TOEFL and GRE/GMAT as applicable; and
2. proves that the course taken up by this applicant is relevant to the basic education s/he had in India and how this course will improve his/her prospects when s/he returns to India.

The prospective student must also prove beyond a doubt that:

1. He/she wishes to reside in the US only on a temporary basis; and
2. He/she has sufficient funds to support him/her during the applicants entire stay in the US.
